If any guy is going to look up worst pick up lines, it should be in the context of what not to do on a date. The worst pick up lines are not always the corniest, the cheesiest or the most unoriginal; they can be perfectly constructed statements, but paired with an extremely bad approach.
Remember that the point of using pick up lines is to try to jumpstart a conversation with a girl. What you say and how you say it are crucial in a girl’s decision of whether you are worth two minutes of her time. You need to exude a creative, energetic presence if you want to make some sort of impact on a girl you’ve spotted.
An example of the worst pick up lines is the yes/no question. Using questions that warrant only one of two answers will kill any spontaneity in the conversation. Without spontaneity, your conversation won’t really be heading anywhere, and so much for direction. Examples of these are: “Do you come here a lot?” or “Are you around from here?” or “Would you like a drink?” Some girls may choose to expand on yes/answers, but not all may extend you the same courtesy, so choose not to take the risk in the first place. She’s more likely to appreciate your sense of creativity, if you ask open-ended questions, and will have greater impact on her memory at the end of the night.
Some of the worst pick up lines are flirty compliments, or conversation openers that lack any buildup of rapport prior to the interaction. Seriously, girls are not going to like random guys coming up to them out of nowhere and saying “You look really pretty, I just had to come over and say hello”.
Flirty compliments usually work best when there have been some build up prior to the approach. Exchange smiles or make eye contact, whatever works, before making your move. Directly approaching a girl with flirty statements make you sound like you’d do anything to get in her pants, and this is what you don’t want to do if you want to ace the dating game.
The same go for cheesy pick up lines. They work when a guy has put some thought and effort into building up his approach, especially because cheesiness or corniness are not good areas for creativity. For another thing, broadcasting obvious sexual interest is not always a good idea, though sometimes (under the right circumstances). A guy places himself at risk for sounding like a teenage horndog, and girls do not appreciate being viewed as mere sexual objects.
Worst pick up lines: Zero Creativity
Other really bad openers include the ones that have little to zero creativity levels. These are statements that girls have already heard about from a dozen other guys who have come up to her at the bar. Statements like “What’s up with you, sweet thing?” or “I haven’t seen you around here before. Where are you from?” or “Hi. May I buy you a drink?” all reek of lazy conventionality. They are some of the worst pick up lines, because they turn you into another faceless statistic in a girl’s book.
If you want to impress a girl, throw in a twist into standard pick up lines. For instance, instead of saying “What hobbies do you enjoy?”, you can say “Name two hobbies of yours that’ll make my skin crawl”. The ability to catch a girl off guard is rare nowadays, and with that under your belt, you’re sure to score some big baskets, just as long as you stay away from the worst pick up lines out there.
